2026-2027: Tuesday Homeschool Program
As an organic, regenerative farm, Holly Hill Farm is a perfect place to discover ways that people have learned from nature to support human life, as we prioritize working with nature in our farming practices. We will use the farm and nearby trails as our setting for learning, socialization, teambuilding, and play.
This year, children will learn how people have engineered solutions to problems in ways that were influenced by natural systems. Throughout the year, students will recreate or invent technologies using nature as our guide, learn about ways that people have survived by living off the land, and gain gardening knowledge by helping to grow produce in our education garden at the farm.
Students will have opportunities to not only help grow food to donate to local food pantries, they will get to taste our produce and work together to make dishes straight from the garden as well as locally foraged plants. The group will go on excursions into the forest to learn about our local ecosystem, practice survival skills, and collect items from nature to work on projects throughout our time at the farm.
The farm educators will also create time for socializing, play, and following children’s interests. The lead teachers and education team will modify lessons based on these needs and interests.
Each child will be registered as part of an FHHF program.
Family Involvement:
In addition to a weekly newsletter, families will be invited to participate in monthly markets, presentations, or meals prepared by the groups. If family members have specific skills they would like to share with the group, we welcome your knowledge and expertise.
Note: In the spring of 2027, we have plans to construct a dedicated program and event building on the farm following sustainable building practices. The project should not impact the homeschool program as the building site and access road will be behind the barnyard. The construction could provide an opportunity for the students to follow the progress each week and to make connections to the technologies and designs they have learned about throughout the year. If you have questions about the new building, please reach out to our Executive Director, Meredith Laban meredith@hollyhillfarm.org.
